2023 Afiora Rosé

NEW RELEASE! We are thrilled to share our seventh vintage of our much beloved Afiora Rosé. Composed entirely of Cabernet Sauvignon, we have fondly named this wine “Afiora,” as a tribute to Larry Grassini’s great-grandmother, Afiora Grassini. Afiora and her husband, Articondo, were the first members of the Grassini family to leave Pisa, Italy to start a new life in America.

While some rosés are a byproduct of red wine production, made by capturing lightly colored juice that is bled off during red wine production, our Afiora Rosé is made with intention at every step. We selected special vineyard blocks and picked the grapes with this rosé project in mind. To attain this beautiful light salmon color, the grapes were allowed to rest on the skins for a mere 5 hours before being carefully pressed.

Our 2023 vintage opens with notes of bright cherry, lychee and passion fruit, as well as aromas of watermelon and nectarine. The lovely hue, reminiscent of a spring sunset, is luminant in the glass and invites a moment of serenity at the end of the day. The palate pulses with flavors of strawberry and white peach, with underlying traces of rose petals which awaken the senses. We can’t help but eagerly await the warmer, sunnier days ahead as we enjoy this fantastic new wine!
