2020 Articondo Proprietary Red
This 2020 vintage of our Articondo is a cuveé of four of the five red wine varietals that we grow on our Estate in Santa Ynez and is a true testament to the classic Bordeaux blend profile. This wine is fondly named after Articondo Grassini, the first member of the Grassini family to emigrate to the United States from Pisa, Italy.
This wine really makes its presence known; it’s bursting with character, much like Articondo himself! It opens with elegant notes of pomegranate, ripe strawberry, and carob, along with hints of white pepper. Honeycomb simmers in the back end, with ripples of black leather and ginger tickling the senses. Waves of black currant and anise complement each other wonderfully, and undertones of butterscotch and caramel take you into the heart of the French Oak barrels, in which this wine rested for 23 months before being bottled.
The four varietals work harmoniously to create a savory, supple mouthfeel, and the finish is a lovely symphony of flavors that is sure to make this wine a holiday favorite. The tannins will continue to soften with some more time on your cellar shelves, so be sure to hide a few bottles in your wine cave and pull them out for your holiday guests!
