Thanks to the incredible generosity of the local Santa Barbara community, Grassini Family Vineyards has raised in excess of $323,000 over the last eight years for some very deserving local charities.
This year, the global pandemic has had terrible impacts on our local community, so we wanted to partner with a non-profit that is helping folks with the most immediate needs: The Foodbank of Santa Barbara County. The Foodbank of Santa Barbara County is transforming hunger into health by eliminating food insecurity through good nutrition and food literacy. The Foodbank provides nourishment and education through a network of more than 300 nonprofit community partners and more than 2,000 volunteers annually. In Santa Barbara County, one in four people receive food support from the Foodbank, which equates to more than 191,000 unduplicated people, 41% of whom are children.
Last year, the Foodbank distributed 12.5 million pounds of food – nearly half of which was fresh produce. Since March of 2020, the Foodbank has already donated over 14.5 million pounds of food to folks in need. The Foodbank is assuming a major leadership role in countywide disaster preparedness with initiatives including a host of Covid-19 response programs, disaster food boxes, disaster feeding plan, establishing a new south county warehouse and updating our trucks for safer food storage and transport. For this year’s Grassini Gives Back fundraiser, we’re donating $10 from every bottle of wine sold through Monday, 12/21 to the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County. And to bring a little extra sunshine to folks during these dark times, we’ll double that donation amount for every bottle of our 2019 Happy Canyon Sauvignon Blanc (which has been dubbed "sunshine in a glass!")
